Custom Book Design with Global Reach and Bestseller Impact
Crafting covers and creating books that capture imaginations, move readers, and build careers.
Books change lives. Their covers open the door.
I’m Christian Storm (formerly publishing as Christian Fuenfhausen), a book cover designer and former Senior Designer at Penguin and Macmillan. My covers have helped launch bestselling titles, sell more than six million copies, and inspire screen adaptations including the films Paper Towns and Freak Show, as well as the globally streamed Netflix series Thirteen Reasons Why and Enola Holmes.
My work has been recognized by leading design institutions and publications, including The New Yorker magazine, AIGA 50 Books/50 Covers, Communication Arts Design Annual, PRINT Magazine’s Design Annual, HOW Magazine, the New York Book Show, and the AU Press Book, Jacket and Journal Awards. These honors reflect my commitment to both artistic excellence and market effectiveness.
Across my career, I’ve collaborated with a wide range of publishers, from the Big Five to distinctive independent presses. My clients include
Random House, Penguin, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Bloomsbury, Houghton Mifflin, Soho Press, Sourcebooks, Milkweed Editions, and academic publishers such as Stanford University Press, NYU Press, Penn State Press, Ohio University Press, and University of Toronto Press.
I served for five years as Art Director at Oceanview Publishing, shaping the visual identity of dozens of mystery and thriller series and guiding authors through the entire publishing journey.
Today, I work with ambitious publishers and authors who believe their stories deserve industry-level design. My process blends strategic research, genre fluency, and a keen editorial sensibility to create covers that captivate, convert, and endure.
Because a great cover doesn’t just sit on a shelf. It calls the reader closer.
