FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions on the Book Design Process
Before we start working together, most authors (and publishers) have a few common questions. I’ve gathered the answers here so you’ll know exactly what to expect. If something isn’t covered, I’m just an email away and happy to help.
How long does the process take?
Most cover projects take 4–6 weeks from consultation to final files. Full book packages (cover + interior) usually take 6–10 weeks, depending on complexity.
How many concepts will I see?
I typically present 6–8 initial cover concepts in a private online gallery. You’ll be able to review them, share with others, and then we refine until we land on the final design.
How many rounds of revisions are included?
All packages include up to three rounds of revisions to make sure we get your cover just right. Additional revisions can be added if needed.
What if I only need an ebook cover?
No problem. I offer a digital-only package that includes all the files you’ll need to publish and promote your ebook. You can always upgrade later to add a print cover or full book package.
What file formats will I receive?
You’ll receive high-resolution print-ready PDFs (if applicable), optimized ebook files (JPEG/PNG), and social media/marketing graphics. All files are yours to keep and use.
Do I own the final design?
Yes. Once payment is complete, you own the rights to use your cover design in connection with your book, including all print and digital editions. I may showcase the work in my portfolio and social media.
How does payment work?
I require a 50% deposit to begin work, with the balance due upon delivery of final files. Payments can be made via credit card, PayPal, or bank transfer.
What if I don’t like any of the concepts?
Because I create multiple initial concepts and refine them based on your feedback, this is rare. The process is highly collaborative, and my goal is always to create a cover you’ll be proud of.
Can you also design the book interior?
Yes! I offer full book packages that include interior layout and typesetting for both print and digital editions. This ensures your book looks professional inside and out.
Do you work with publishers as well as authors?
Absolutely. I’ve worked with the Big Five publishers, university presses, hybrid publishers, and independent authors. I tailor my process to meet the needs of each client.
